Growing up in Cornwall, Crispin has always loved being part of a proud community and being close to the sea. After marrying Louise in 1994, Crispin and Louise moved to her family farm at Thorpe Malsor near Kettering, in time for the millennium. While he still misses the sea, Crispin and Louise have found through immersing themselves in local affairs, there is a proud and vibrant Northamptonshire community and identity, made more relevant by the constant expansion of the East Midlands area. They have three boys, George, Ben and William who are now starting their careers or university. After training to be a land agent in Lincolnshire, Crispin joined Savills Country Department in 1988 where he went on to specialise in the sale of country houses and estates. Since then, Crispin has led the Savills Country House department, its Farm Agency business, and is now the Country Director in the Savills Private Office, dealing mostly with off market sales. Crispin has put his passion for architecture, history and the environment into practice by spending much time and energy restoring Thorpe Malsor Hall and garden, planting woodlands and helping to create wildlife habitats around the farm. As a Trustee of The Lamport Estate, a local Charity, as well as a Governor at St Andrews Healthcare in Northampton, and a Deputy Lieutenant, Crispin is slowly getting to know more about the wonderful work that so many put into the local community without financial reward, and he is much looking forward to significantly increasing his knowledge as High Sheriff in 2022/23. Crispin is thoroughly enjoying his year in office which has coincided with the Knife Angel initiative in Northamptonshire, the opening of the Five Wells Prison in Wellingborough, and of course the Platinum Jubilee. His interest in rural affairs has led him to focus more perhaps than would normally be the case on issues in the county that affect our rural communities. There are so many major issues to deal with in our towns that sometimes the rural communities feel that their own challenges remain unnoticed. There are some fabulous charities working with rural communities, and Crispin is very much enjoying supporting them and seeing what he can do to help them achieve their aims.
